It is critically important for all airlines to know their market position and who they target. Allegiant Air is very clear about this. The ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) exclusively focuses on leisure travelers, with a considerable number of typically thin routes served twice or thrice weekly.
Naturally, Florida is critical. From June to December 2026, the Sunshine State accounts for 63% of the ULCC’s activity. A considerable 564 routes will touch Florida, all of which are domestic. These figures exclude Sun Country, which has been acquired by Allegiant Travel Company.
Allegiant Has Cut 35 Routes From Florida
Cirium Diio data was used to examine Allegiant’s network from Florida between January 2025 and May 2026. Every route was compared to what is scheduled to operate from June 2026 onward. A whopping 34 routes have been removed. Breeze Airways’ cuts were also explored recently.
Of course, route churn always happens, and the more ‘experimental’ the network, the more likely they are to fail. Perhaps what matters more is the net change. While 35 markets have been eliminated, only ten are due to launch between June and December 2026.
Its Florida network has shrunk, but it will be hoping for stronger performance overall. Despite this, the ULCC plans 5% more Florida flights in these months than in the same period last year. It has doubled down on higher-density markets, where it believes they warrant higher capacity.
Allegiant serves 12 airports in Florida: Destin-Fort Walton Beach,
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Key West, Melbourne,
Orlando International Airport (MCO), Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), Palm Beach, Punta Gorda (for Fort Myers), Sarasota, and Tampa St. Petersburg. The route cuts involve eight of them, as outlined below.

15 Routes Have Been Removed From FLL & SFB
They are summarized on the following interactive map. The equipment details refer to what was scheduled at any point since January 2025, even if only one flight was on a specific model or variant. They are also listed in the following table.
The small city of Minot, in North Dakota, is notable. It was Allegiant’s third-longest route ever from SFB. Allegiant flew it between November 2023 and April 2025. According to the US Department of Transportation (DOT), the carrier transported 35,986 round-trip passengers. It filled 79.1% of the available seats, which was five points lower than Allegiant’s average networkwide result in the same period. It was also two points lower than the carrier’s overall Minot network.
The DOT shows the ULCC’s average SFB-Minot fare was $69 one-way (excluding taxes and add-ons), which was by far the lowest of its then four SFB-North Dakota routes. Only one remains: SFB-Fargo. That market’s fare was 32% higher than Minot’s, despite covering 12% less distance with the consequent lower operating costs.

These 19 Routes Have Also Ended
Recall that this article is about markets that operated between January 2025 and May 2026 but which won’t exist from June 2026 onward. Allegiant has also ended flights between Destin-Fort Walton Beach and Minneapolis, Jacksonville and Norfolk, and Palm Beach and Indianapolis.
Only Palm Beach to Indianapolis is now unserved. Allegiant operated between November 2019 and April 2025. In total, the ULCC carried 57,040 passengers but filled a ridiculous 61.8% of seats. Allegiant’s low frequency and limited operating period meant it only captured 22% of the market. Most people still connected in Atlanta with
Delta Air Lines and in Charlotte with American Airlines
American Airlines.
Then there’s Punta Gorda to Minneapolis, New Orleans, Plattsburgh, Richmond, Savannah, and Tri-State; Sarasota to Elmira, Minneapolis, Moline, Plattsburgh, Portsmouth, and Roanoke; and Tampa St. Pete to Bismarck, McAllen, Norfolk, and Savannah. The link to the border city of McAllen existed between June 2024 and March 2025. The DOT shows that 10,808 passengers were carried, but just 59.0% of seats were filled. No wonder it was cut.
