Aside from airlines in Iran,
Qatar Airways has been one of the most affected airlines due to the war in Iran. Compared to April-June 2025, four in ten of the airline’s departures from its Doha hub have been removed, with more flights canceled. It has grounded its Airbus A380s, while the type’s flights across the rest of the year remain down significantly.
The Gulf carrier’s schedule submission to OAG shows that all remaining months of 2026 have fewer flights than in 2025. But it is a work in progress. Months later in the year are currently far less unaffected, but that will certainly change if the war in Iran is extended or the fighting escalates. Unsurprisingly, the planning is now much shorter-term, which results in many problems and uncertainties, including for passengers.
This Is Qatar Airways’ Longest Route
This article examines the
oneworld member’s nonstop and one-stop flights between April and December 2026. The information comes from Qatar Airways’ schedule submission to OAG. It is based on the maximum block time, which is measured as chocks-off-to-chocks-on (in other words, stand-to-stand or gate-to-gate). Reflecting slot possession, this includes taxi time at both ends of the route, flight time, and a period for short delays.
In normal times, Auckland back to Doha is the carrier’s longest route. This remains the case now, but things are very different. The maximum block time has risen from 17 hours and 20 minutes to 20 hours and 15 minutes. This is because flights will stop in Adelaide in both directions, with fifth freedom rights available between the capital of South Australia and New Zealand’s most populous city.

Qatar Airways previously operated Doha-Adelaide-Auckland and vice versa in 2022 and 2023. The current information shows that the carrier will return to this Trans-Tasman market between June 17 and September 15, although flights could be extended. It is better to operate via Australia, with a significantly longer trip, than not at all. Thereafter, flights are due to return, with a much shorter and more competitive block time.
Running daily, the 354-seat Boeing 777-300ER is scheduled, with the airline providing the only widebody flights between the two cities. Note from the following schedule that a business traveler could have a day’s work in either
Auckland or Adelaide, with convenient early evening departures in both directions, although the arrival of 11:30 PM in New Zealand is hardly pleasant.

Qatar Airways’ Second To Fifth-Longest Services
Timed at up to 18 hours and five minutes, Doha to
Los Angeles is Qatar Airways’ new second-longest offering. Flights return on a daily basis in June, decreasing to four weekly departures in mid-July. The 327-seat A350-1000 will initially be deployed, but quickly replaced by the 272-seat 777-200LR.
Due to detouring around Iranian airspace, the maximum block time has risen from the previously scheduled 16 hours and ten minutes. That is nearly two additional hours, with all the consequences of much higher fuel burn, emissions, etc., let alone extraordinarily long flights. When writing, 18 hours and five minutes is only available in June, but the extended schedule is highly likely to be applied to more months soon.
The rest of the airline’s five longest links are Canberra back to Doha via Melbourne (up to 17 hours and 55 minutes), Doha to Dallas/Fort Worth (up to 17 hours and 30 minutes; increased by half an hour compared to the prior high), and Doha to San Francisco (up to 17 hours and 30 minutes; increased by one hour and 40 minutes). Qatar Airways is due to return to Australia’s capital in September. The stop in Melbourne is simply to obtain more traffic rights.
Rounding Out The Ten Longest Routes
The sixth to ninth spots are taken by Doha to Houston Intercontinental (up to 17 hours), followed by Doha to Seattle (up to 16 hours and 40 minutes), Doha to Miami (up to 16 hours and 35 minutes) and Doha to Chicago O’Hare (up to 16 hours). These entries have longer block times than previously. Some have only increased slightly, particularly Miami due to its geographic position and less need to detour. Its maximum block time is up by just five minutes.
Two routes are tied for the tenth spot, with a maximum block time of 15 hours and 40 minutes each: Doha to São Paulo Guarulhos and Phnom Penh back to Doha via Ho Chi Minh City. Qatar Airways has had passenger flights to Cambodia since 2013, and they’ve always operated via Vietnam.
The final service to the now-closed Phnom Penh International took place last September, replaced by the new Techo International. Middle Eastern capacity to Cambodia is increasing. Etihad started flights there last year, which was when Emirates launched its second route to the country.
