Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer scored back-to-back half-centuries as Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets with 21 balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium.
The duo stitched a match-winning 139-run partnership for the third wicket, guiding PBKS to 198/3 in just 16.3 overs.
Mumbai Indians posted 195/6 after being asked to bat first. Quinton de Kock led the charge with a brilliant 112* off 60 balls, while Naman Dhir added 50 off 31 balls.
MI had a poor start, slipping to 12/2 early after Arshdeep Singh struck twice. But De Kock steadied the innings and later accelerated to reach his century.
Chasing 196, PBKS lost Priyansh Arya (15) and Cooper Connolly (17) early.
AM Ghazanfar picked up both wickets, giving Mumbai Indians a brief chance to get back into the game.
Prabhsimran and Iyer then took charge and completely dominated the chase. Prabhsimran remained unbeaten on 80 off 39 balls, while Iyer scored 66 off 35 balls. Both continued their strong form after scoring fifties in the previous match as well. Prabhsimran played attacking shots all around the ground and reached his fifty in just 23 balls. He also got an early lifeline when Jasprit Bumrah dropped a catch.
Iyer supported him well before accelerating later, reaching his half-century in 31 balls.
Mumbai Indians’ fielding let them down badly, with three dropped catches in the match. Iyer himself was dropped once before finishing strongly, hitting boundaries and sixes to seal the game quickly.
Earlier in the match, Iyer pulled off a sensational catch to dismiss Hardik Pandya.
Leaping near the boundary, he caught the ball mid-air, tossed it back into play, and Xavier Bartlett completed the catch. It was one of the best moments of the match.
With this win, Punjab Kings moved to the top of the points table with nine points.
Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, continued their poor run and stayed near the bottom with just one win from five matches.
