Public accounts, crime and fishing seasons on the agenda


Auditor General Karen Hogan and her team brief PUBLIC ACCOUNTS members on the $136 million budget set to be allocated to the office, as outlined in the latest estimates before the committee switches its focus to the published public accounts for the last two years during a briefing session with Bank of Canada chief operating officer Alexis Corbett. (4:30 p.m.)

Over at JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS, MPs continue to review Justice Minister Sean Fraser’s proposal to provide new measures aimed at protecting children and combatting gender-based violence during back-to-back panel discussions with representatives of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, Daughter Project Canada, London Abused Women’s Centre, Ontario Child Sexual Exploitation Investigators Association and the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights. (4:30 p.m.)

Also this afternoon:

  • FISHERIES AND OCEANS members take a closer look at the factors involved in setting opening and closing harvest dates with representatives of the Prince Edward Island Fishermen’s Association, Sport Fishing Institute of British Columbia, B.C. Wildlife Federation, Public Fishery Alliance and Sport Fishing Advisory Board. (4 p.m.)
  • NATIONAL DEFENCE members get an update on the experience of Francophone and Indigenous Canadian Armed Forces members. (4:30 p.m.)
  • HEALTH members meet to discuss production orders issued last month. (5 p.m.)
