The Jacksonville Jaguars placed two players on injured reserve with return designations.

Offensive lineman Patrick Mekari and defensive end Zach Durfee will have to miss a minimum of four games to start the season.

Prior to the initial 53-man rosters being set, teams can designate up to two players to return from IR.

For Mekari, this is not unexpected. It was reported on Aug. 17 that he underwent back surgery and would miss some time, although the Jaguars do expect him to be back at some point this season.

During practices this past week, Ezra Cleveland was at right guard with rookie Emmanuel Pregnon then taking over at left guard.

Durfee, meanwhile, is dealing with an “upper-body injury,” according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

Durfee did not play in the preseason finale against Tampa Bay.

Durfee was a seventh-round pick in this past April’s draft by Jacksonville. Throughout offseason programs and training camp, he was able to flash some of the upside that he possesses.
