Yorkshire: Pakistan’s Hasan Ali replaces injured Naveen Ul-Haq

Pakistan seamer Hasan Ali has joined Yorkshire for the Vitality Blast, replacing the injured Naveen Ul-Haq.

Yorkshire turned to Ali because Ul-Haq was ruled out for the season, and he will also be available for the County Championship games against Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

The right-arm seamer has an impressive record in domestic T20 cricket from three successful spells with Warwickshire in the Vitality Blast, claiming 44 wickets at an average of 14.93.

Ali, 31, has featured in 57 IT20 matches for Pakistan, taking 72 wickets at an average of 23. Known for his clever variation, the right-arm quick has built a reputation as a genuine match-winner in the shortest format of the game.

He reached the landmark of 50 ODI wickets for Pakistan sooner than anyone else and was part of their victorious 2017 ICC Champions Trophy campaign.

Gavin Hamilton, Yorkshire’s general manager, told the club website: “Whilst we’re naturally disappointed to not see Naveen join us this year, in Hasan we have an exceptional replacement.

“He arrives with a wealth of experience and a skillset that we believe will be invaluable to the group.

“We’re delighted to have secured someone of Hasan’s quality at such short notice and everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming him to Headingley next month.”
