With the Major League Baseball trade deadline only getting closer, there are going to be some interesting names that could get moved.

The New York Yankees are going to be at the top of the list for some elite players, and even guys who can come in and just make a marginal impact. Right now, the Yankees need to improve on the mound, in the infield at third base, and probably behind the plate. There are some players I’d like to see them go after in both scenarios, with third base being an interesting one.
It was recently noted by Sports Illustrated that Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman could be traded.
Gorman, who can really swing the bat when he’s at the top of his game, has struggled this year with seven home runs and 67 strikeouts compared to 23 walks.
“Let’s start off with a bold one: Nolan Gorman. The Cardinals have been waiting for Gorman’s bat to consistently come around for a few years at this point. While his defense has taken a major step forward, he’s still a .210 hitter with just six homers. If he had 15 homers, the .210 batting average would be easier to stomach.

“Whether there is some sort of trade or demotion, Gorman’s inside track to a consistent role in the middle of the order could very well come to an end this season. Blaze Jordan is down in the minors tearing it up with Triple-A Memphis at 23 years old. At some point, he’s going to force the conversation,” Patrick McAvoy wrote.
While Gorman’s numbers might not be the best, and there are some concerns about whether he’s going to be able to figure things out in New York, I still think there’s something to be said about him coming in and giving the Yankees a nice boost.
In 2023, he hit 27 home runs and popped 19 the year before. If he can get somewhere around that 20-to-25 mark each season, especially with the short left-field porch at Yankee Stadium, he’d be an excellent fit.
