Xbox has finally revealed the price hikes recently rolled out across its hardware, and Xbox consoles in the UK are now between 34 and 49 percent more expensive than they were last month.

While we knew the price rise was coming – and that the US would see prices increase by around $100-$150 – it’s only now that the true cost of the memory shortage has become apparent in the UK and Europe.

The price rises really are substantial, too. The 1TB Xbox Series X disc console is up from £500 to £670 – that’s a whopping £170 more, an increase of around 34 percent.

Even the cheapest console, the 512GB Xbox Series S, is up from £300 to £430 (43 percent), and its 1TB sibling up from £350 to £520 (48.5 percent).

New details from Microsoft earlier this week revealed Xbox saw a 10 percent drop in revenue across content and services this last financial quarter, following a massive wave of layoffs and the offloading of development studios.

It was earlier this month Microsoft announced 3,200 layoffs across its Xbox gaming division, with 1,600 of those job cuts being implemented immediately. This resulted in several major studios under its umbrella – including Bethesda and Id Software – to suffer significant staffing woes as a result of greater scrutiny being paid towards Microsoft’s gaming venture.
