So, what are we all doing to chill out this weekend?

Ahead of the upcoming London leg of the Symphony tour, I’m replaying Undertale for the first time in a decade. I find revisiting games fascinating, to discover what you remember and what does (or doesn’t) quite stick: for example, I knew Undertale was funny, but not this funny, while the combat and mini-games – which I thought were clever and engaging the first time round – to be a little trying today.

The most important thing, however, is that the soundtrack remains an absolute belter, to the point where I’ve discovered one or two favourites along the way – making my gig visit all the more anticipated.

Diablo IV springing out of a hole in the ground took me by surprise, and now I’ve got to bash my way through as much as possible.

Does that mean I’m going to be spending my Saturday and Sunday working? I suppose it does, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.

That’s how big I am. I’m enormous, like the sun god Ra.

Units at the ready for the Heroic Games! Yes, you can probably guess what I’ll be playing this weekend. I’ve already sunk in about 160hrs into Fire Emblem: Fortunes Weave, but I still have the last few bits to tie up before finally beating the game. I’ve loved my time with it, and I can’t wait to play more in the series.

I’m still also working through Fire Emblem: Awakening, so that will be my treat for when I finish the new one.

As a bit of a palate cleanser, I’m finally back on to Death Stranding 2, which has been quite nice after manoeuvring Flame Lords for the last month. For those playing Fortune’s Weave, good luck in the Heroic Games!

With Fire Emblem behind me, it’s finally time to sink some proper hours into Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. I put my new playthrough on pause when this was announced for Switch 2 last year, and have been eagerly waiting to start again ever since. Time to convince myself that I’m bad at games, once again!

Oh yes, and I also have Wolverine. I’ll go back to ignoring the general critical consensus and enjoying my silly little superhero game while keeping all of my fingers crossed that the MCU bucks up its ideas and casts Matt Berry as its new live-action Logan.

Time flies when you’re on vacation, and here I am, right back where I started. While I did plan to finish Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in my absence, I’m nowhere near the end and will need to keep at it for a few more weekends. The recent backlog of shame is the stuff of legends: Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters, Devil May Cry 5, Elden Ring and Onimusha: Way of the Sword are all looking at me with sad puppy eyes as I carry on my Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes replay on GameCube. Also, it took me 23 years to discover there is a PS2 exclusive Macross game developed by SEGA and AM2, and I will begin the game’s second campaign this weekend.

Game of the week is naturally Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave! It was quite an ordeal to figure out how to switch the voices audio to Japanese, but over an hour and a half later it has been smooth sailing on Dietrich’s path (anyone noticed he is a very beautiful man? The entire cast of the game seems extremely eager to point that out to me… am I not a beautiful man too?).
