We haven’t heard anything for months about The Duskbloods and Elden Ring coming to Switch 2, but FromSoftware’s owner insists they’re still coming out this year

We haven’t heard anything for months about FromSoftware’s Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods and the Switch 2 version of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, but apparently they’re both still down for release this year. That’s according to FromSoftware’s owner Kadokawa, which listed both games in its financial report as “slated for a 2026 release for Switch 2”.

Since its announcement last April, FromSoftware has kept silent about The Duskbloods, which is an all new franchise for the company. We do know that it will feature up to eight players vying for “supremacy among themselves and against challenging foes”, in what seems to be quite an eclectic offering. The Duskblood’s announcement included jetpacks, creepy moons and even dinosaurs. But beyond that, the game remains a mystery, and we still haven’t seen any gameplay footage beyond the initial trailer.

“Still debating if Duskbloods is worth getting a Switch 2 for, but I’m interested to learn more,” reddit user TrollMcGoal said following Kadokawa’s update. Meanwhile, in another thread, MASHED_POTATOES_MF said that because they played Elden Ring’s multiplayer spinoff Nightrein and enjoyed it, they have “full confidence [The Duskbloods] will be peak”.

TheHelpfulWalnut added, helpfully: “Yeah was highly skeptical of Nightreign before release, but ended up playing like 200 hours. It actually makes me interested in Duskbloods… or it would if I could afford to purchase a Switch 2 just for one game lmao.”

At the same time The Duskbloods was revealed, it was announced that Elden Ring was also coming to Switch 2, with a release expected later in 2025. However, following reports that Elden Ring ran poorly on Nintendo’s console, its Switch 2 release was nudged back into 2026 to allow for performance adjustments. In a brief statement announcing the delay, FromSoftware apologised and said it was “wholeheartedly [working] toward release”.

When it does arrive on Switch 2, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will include the base game and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, as well as two new classes for players to choose from when they set off for the Lands Between.

Hopefully we will hear firm release dates for both Elden Ring and The Duskbloods’ Switch 2 debuts soon. Summer Game Fest is just around the corner, so perhaps we will get an announcement then. Summer Game Fest’s Opening Showcase is scheduled for 5th June, with the event beginning at 9pm UK time.

In the meantime, if you’ve not played Elden Ring yet and are thinking about picking it up on Switch 2, be sure to check out Eurogamer’s original Elden Ring review from 2022, where Aoife Wilson called it “grandiose”, “mysterious” and “a touch more welcoming” than FromSoftware’s previous games.
