Intelligent Systems’ turn-based tactical RPG Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launched on Switch 2 last week and Digital Foundry has now taken a quick look at how it performs on Nintendo’s new hybrid system.
The new entry runs at a “locked” 30fps. Although this falls short of other first-party titles on Switch 2 (with games such as Mario Kart World running at 60fps), it’s still described as being an improvement on the Switch title Fire Emblem Engage, with “no drops”.
In terms of image quality, in docked play the game targets 1440p, but uses a 720p base resolution via a reconstruction, with possible use of DLSS. In portable, the target is 1080p, and it’s running at 540p in base resolution.
Textures and and other aspects such as shadows are also “fine”, and texture filtering is described as being a “bit blurry” at times but passable. Load times are also “snappy” when transitioning between areas.
Overall, this Switch 2 release is summarised as a step up on the previous release. However, the lack of 60fps is a “bit disappointing”. You can get the full rundown in the video above.
