Vans has gotten its hands on three distinct batches of Harris tweed and has applied them to a trio of sneaker elements from some of the brand’s biggest hits over the past year.

The Vans “Harris Tweed Pack” incorporates the strictly regulated Scottish woven wool into punk takes on the Old Skool, Slip-On and Loafer. Each is differentiated by different colors and patterns, but common detailing comes in the form of colorful jewel studs, safety pins, distressed soles and bright orange cheetah print insoles.

The Slip-On and Old Skool share more common ornamentation with spiked studs, “Off the Wall” logo badges and embellished pink stitching with no discernible patterns. These two are also the only ones to feature Harris tweed tags, which are affixed to the safety pins on the left shoes’ lateral sides in addition to the tongue tag of the Old Skool.

Similar studs have featured on Vans’ Old Skool “Pearlized” series, Satoshi Nakamoto collaborations and the “Ibiza” pack. And connections are less tangible for the Old Skool “Souvenir” series inspired by Chanel’s “Graffiti” bag, the punk spirit is very much the same.

Harris tweed isn’t a brand but rather a protected label for tweed cloth that’s been sourced from local wool, handwoven and finished in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Nike used it for a duo of Dunk Lows last year, New Balance has employed it a couple times this decade and Vans also utilized the fabric in the early 2010s.

The Vans “Harris Tweed Pack” will release Sept. 24 through the brands’ website and select third-party retailers. Pricing runs from $120 for the Loafer up to $140 for Old Skool.
