U.S. Open 2026 first round highlights: Sights and sounds from Thursday’s play

The 2026 U.S. Open tees off Thursday at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

J.J. Spaun, the 2025 champion, will be teeing off at 8:14 a.m. to defend his title. Spaun beat Robert MacIntyre by two strokes to secure his first major win.

Scottie Scheffler will also be on hand, teeing off alongside Spaun. The U.S. Open is the only major win that Scheffler lacks, and a victory would give him a career Grand Slam.
