Trump’s trade war on Canada will live on: David Frum

Thirty years after the Winds of Change conference helped spark the unification of Canada’s two main conservative parties, one of the key organizers of that movement sees new tensions and divides in the conservative movement. In this episode, Rob Breakenridge is joined by noted author, journalist, and political commentator David Frum for a closer look at the impact of Donald Trump and populist-style conservative politics in the U.S., Canada, and other western countries. We’ll also look at how Trump’s return to the White House, coupled with Mark Carney’s ascension, have turned Canadians politics on its head and created major challenges for Pierre Poilievre and the Conservative Party. Plus, we’ll get Frum’s view on the short-term future of Canada-U.S. relations and how best to understand Trump’s aggressive protectionism and antagonism toward Canada.
