The two leaders are also likely to discuss US concerns about artificial intelligence, as well as issues in the agriculture and energy sectors, added the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive preparations for talks.
Trump and Xi are scheduled for talks on May 14-15 in Beijing as they wrestle with strong disagreements over trade and the US war with Iran.
The senior US officials said the two sides plan to continue their discussions on possible Chinese purchase agreements, particularly in the agriculture and aircraft sectors, and may have announcements during or shortly after Trump’s visit. But there are no current plans to create a major new Chinese investment program, the officials added.
They also made clear that they don’t expect any major US policy changes toward Taiwan.
