Trump administration eyeing oil under U.S. military bases for reserve


In all, some 29.4 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil, along with 391 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, exist under federal lands, including property owned by the Department of Defense, the Interior Department and other agencies, according to a 2025 analysis by the U.S. Geological Survey.
