Thirteen Lune has a new but very familiar owner as it gets ready for its first international expansion.
Nyakio Grieco told WWD she and investors reacquired the inclusive retail platform from SNR Capital, which funnels brands into the PCA Companies. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
She cofounded the business with Patrick Herning in 2020. At the time of the sale to SNR in 2024, Grieco became the company’s chief executive officer, and Herning exited the business.
“I’ve been through many challenges over the last couple of years, including restructuring and selling the assets and an acquisition at the end of 2024,” she said. “In a unique way, what it allowed me to do was to step into my why and my passion, and it being a non-negotiable to keep going.
“It’s the same VCs that have been riding with me since Day One. Brain Trust, Fearless Fund, my incredible angel investors that have been there since 2020, just have said, ‘Yep, we’re back in,’ and that is a gift, and a real testament to the power of what we’re building, and humbly, their belief in me, regardless of adversity,” she continued.
This came as Thirteen Lune unveiled a strategic partnership with Takealot, South Africa’s largest online retailer and leading e-commerce ecosystem. The partnership marks Thirteen Lune’s international debut, bringing a curated portfolio of beauty brands directly to consumers across South Africa later in the fourth quarter of 2026, including Grieco’s clean skin care line, Relevant Beauty.
“Taking Thirteen Lune global starting in South Africa is both a critical business expansion and a deeply personal homecoming,” said Grieco. “My father dedicated years of his life’s work to South Africa, so returning to the continent that shaped my family’s legacy to launch a platform built on heritage and equity is a lifelong dream. We are entering the market as a true disruptor — hyper-focused on serving everyone by creating a direct pipeline for South African consumers to discover leading U.S. and global beauty brands.”
This follows the end of Nyakio Grieco’s and Thirteen Lune’s legal woes in November 2025. Grieco and Thirteen Lune were dropped from the lawsuit filed March 4, plaintiff Relevance Ventures and legal representation for Grieco confirmed Wednesday. The suit alleged misappropriation of company funds, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty, among other allegations, as reported.
“We are withdrawing our complaint against Nyakio Grieco and Thirteen Lune. After limited discovery, litigation with respect to Nyakio and the company was the result of an unfortunate misunderstanding related to information inadvertently not provided to us,” said Dean Newton, chairman and general partner of Nashville-based Relevance Ventures, in a statement at the time.
