The Witcher 3 Remastered’s latest patch brings some bloomin’ improvements to the game’s bloom problems, amongst other lighting buffs

A dev’s work is never done, and certainly not with a big ole revamp like The Witcher 3 Remastered. CD Projekt Red put out a new patch today bringing in a range of fixes for the RPG, perhaps most notably sorting out some of the game’s lighting issues, amongst other, PC-specific related problems to do with your GPU.

For starters, from playing the remaster or just seeing a litany of comments about it on Reddit, the game has had some noticeable bloom issues, making for a distracting experience. On PC that problem was easily solved by just turning it off in the settings, but that does technically change the intended look of the remaster. So, with this patch there’s been some supposed improvements to bloom, alongside other lighting related bits like tone mapping, character lighting, ray tracing, and path tracing.

PC folks have had their own specific issues too, however. In some instances it was possible to turn a graphics setting your GPU doesn’t support on, sometimes the game would select the wrong GPU, and sometimes changing graphics presets would apply DLSS or XeSS on GPU’s where they aren’t supported. Both of these bugs have been fixed now, thankfully, alongside others like one where the GTAO Quality setting would reset after restarting the game.

A few gameplay issues have been resolved as well. Ladder interaction animations have been improved, Geralt shouldn’t collide with dead enemies upon using the Aard finisher, Vesemir won’t repeat himself constantly upon using Quen multiple times, dodging will be properly snappy as it would randomly be delayed before, and Geralt’s stamina won’t fully drain when sprinting and dodging at the same time. All pretty convenient bits! And you can read the full patch notes here to get the full rundown.
