NUPTSE NEWNESS: The North Face is celebrating 60 years of outdoor adventures with new Nuptse jackets, which are being introduced with an athlete- and ambassador-heavy ad campaign.
The Nuptse debuted in 1992 and has been keeping explorers warm around the world since. Now there are new options: the Summit Nuptse and the Pertex Reversible Nuptse.
According to the brand, the Summit is designed to be the lightest and warmest Nuptse to date, featuring familiar colorblocking as well as an insulated hood, a first for the line. It’s made with recycled nylon and targeted ultralight woven ripstop fabric with Spectra yarns.
The Pertex Reversible Nuptse has a cleaner, more modern aesthetic on one side and a more classic look on the reverse. It’s wrought in Pertex Quantum fabric, which offers wind resistance and water repellency.
Showing off the new looks in the campaign are DJ collective Las Flaquitas (made up of Jessica Gjoza, Kaila Burke-Ozuna and Tatiana Varchola), mountaineer Jim Morrison, rock climber and 2024 silver Olympic medalist Brooke Raboutou and snowboarder David Babacar Djité. Chinese actor Yunrui Li will serve as brand ambassador in China and will front the brand’s regional campaign.
“With the launch of the Summit Series Nuptse and Pertex Reversible Nuptse, we’re honoring the legacy of one of the most iconic jackets in the world while boldly evolving it for a new generation,” said Chris Goble, global brand president at The North Face. “The Nuptse has been a staple from the world’s tallest mountains to city streets since its introduction as part of The North Face Expedition System in 1992. By bridging its expedition roots with modern performance and style, we reaffirm our commitment to equipping athletes and explorers with products that inspire confidence, enable ambition and redefine what is possible.”
