A boyfriend and girlfriend are going viral after facing off against each other in the Top 8 bracket of a major Tekken 8 tournament.
LVL UP EXPO is a gaming, anime, and pop culture convention in Las Vegas that includes esports tournaments for a wide variety of titles.
Tekken 8 was one of the featured games at this year’s EXPO, with a tournament that drew 137 total entrants including famous competitors like Arslan Ash, Cuddle Core, kkokkoma, and Rangchu.
These Tekken legends aren’t the ones going viral, though; instead, two other players ended up stealing the show over the weekend for their adorable pre-match ritual and the wild circumstances of how they both ended up in the Top 8 bracket.

‘Fear of Silence’ and ‘SVL’ are both competitive Tekken players who worked their way up the 137-person bracket to land in Top 8 on Losers Side. They’re also in a romantic relationship.
The two celebrated their placement in a post on X, where Fear of Silence shared an adorable photo of himself and his girlfriend in a ‘battle pose.’
“Made top 8 losers at LVL UP EXPO. My first opponent is my girlfriend! Awesome to share the stage with her,” he wrote.
“When you make Top 8 and your first opponent is your boyfriend,” SVL lamented in a separate post.
The two hopped on stage to duke it out in Losers Round 1. After shaking hands, they gave each other a quick smooch in an adorable moment that was quickly clipped and shared across social media.
Ultimately, Fear of Silence’s Dragunov defeated SVL’s Lee Chaolan 2-0, knocking SVL out of the tournament. Fear of Silence went on to face Cuddle Core, who took the match 2-0 in the Losers Quarter Final.
