Starfield Discount Drops The Sci-Fi RPG To Its Lowest Price Yet

As someone who talks about their fascination with space to an unhealthy degree, you can bet that Starfield was my most anticipated game for years. The first original IP from Bethesda Game Studios in over two decades, it looked like a sci-fi take on Fallout, offering a new universe to explore from the developer behind some of the best RPGs available. While it initially didn’t live up to my hefty expectations, it’s now in better shape following multiple updates. Best of all, you can get it even cheaper than I did, as the game is at its lowest price ever right now.

If you’re even somewhat interested in travelling to space (hello, No Man’s Sky players), I shouldn’t need to sell you on Starfield. The story sends you on a planet-hopping adventure through the stars, seeing you hunt for the meaning of the universe. Yes, the one we currently reside in. That means working with Constellation, a crew of people looking to find the meaning of life (not 42) and mysterious artifacts that will help you find that exact answer.

Of course, in familiar Bethesda RPG fashion, the main narrative rarely remains the focal point. As you meet a range of characters, fight with other factions, or simply go hunting for treasure, you’ll find yourself off the beaten track far more than you expect. Every side quest starts as, “I’ll just take a quick trip to this planet,” and suddenly, you’ve started an entirely new secondary plot. Constellation can wait.

It also differentiates itself from the two elephants in the room-Fallout and The Elder Scrolls-with relative success. Sure, the gunplay will be familiar to long-term Vault Dwellers, which isn’t surprising considering that it shares the same developer, but the vibes are different.

And after an initial playthrough, the mod selection is hefty, to say the least. There’s a modpack that basically converts Starfield into Star Wars. Obviously, the right way to play is always a vanilla run first, but the options for changing the game are endless. There are over 13,000 options on Nexus alone, so check out the best Starfield mods before downloading all of them. I doubt anyone’s PC would be able to handle that, anyway.

Right now, you can grab Starfield for just $34.99 / £31.49 at Fanatical, making it 30% off the usual listing price. That’s the cheapest it has ever been, and considering Steam’s lowest price has been a 20% discount, that’s an excellent price. Best of all, you’re still getting a Steam key, so there’s no need to download extra launchers or anything of the sort.

Disclosure: GameSpot and Fanatical are both owned by Fandom. This story was created in collaboration with Fanatical’s deals team.
