Spurs respond to report ranking San Antonio among NBA’s most expensive game-day experiences

After an Express-News story last week reported that a family of four could spend an average of $401.95 at a Spurs game this season, the team said fans have less expensive options.

The estimate came from a RotoWire analysis that ranked the Spurs’ game-day costs eighth-highest in the NBA. It included four tickets, parking, two beers, two sodas and four hot dogs. The league-wide average was $343.18.

The Spurs said they make thousands of tickets available each season for $25 or less and plan to continue doing so.

The team also pointed to its community ticket program, which distributed nearly 16,000 free seats last season through partnerships with schools, nonprofits and neighborhood organizations.

The Spurs said they also use verified resale systems and ticket purchase limits to help keep games affordable and accessible to fans.

Spurs highlight cheaper concession options

RotoWire estimated that parking and concessions at a Spurs game would add $132.51 to the total cost, the highest combined extras amount in the NBA.

That figure included $38.69 for parking, $25 for two beers, $18.70 for two sodas and $50.12 for four hot dogs – the highest four-hot-dog total in the league.

The Spurs also pointed to their “Spurs Steals” program, which offers discounted concessions throughout the season.

• Value Beer: $5.75
• Value Nachos: $3.09
• Value Popcorn: $3.09
• Value Soda: $3.09
• Value Hot Dog: $3.09
• 12-ounce Value Water: $3.05

All prices exclude applicable sales tax.

At the Spurs Steals prices, two beers, two sodas and four hot dogs would cost $30.04, compared with the study’s $93.82 estimate – a difference of $63.78. The comparison may not be exact because item sizes can vary.

Parking prices also vary by game. For the Spurs’ Oct. 20 season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Ticketmaster listed a pass for about $28, while resale listings ranged from $40 to $148.

RotoWire said its ticket and parking estimates were based on Sept. 30 prices. Its concession estimates had not been updated for the 2026-27 season.

Spurs Steals offers cheaper concession options, but actual game-day costs will vary based on ticket availability, parking and what fans choose to buy.
