Spotify Experienced Another Major Outage

Two gremlins rolled through Spotify today.

It wasn’t just you. Spotify was inoperable or bugged out for many users today, and after the original batch of issues were apparently fixed, there was a second major outage affecting the company’s web page and apps. The outages meant that people couldn’t stream music, log in, search the library or manage their accounts.

At just past 3PM ET on Monday, July 27, the Spotify Status account shared on X, “We’re aware of some issues right now with our web page and are checking them out!” And then three hours later it tweeted, “All clear now — thanks for your patience with this!” The account also provided links to the Spotify support and community pages.

This second round of problems followed an outage in the early morning of July 27. The Spotify Status account said that glitch was cleared up about an hour after reports started rolling in. Spotify gave the all-clear for the second round of problems at 6PM ET today, and the service’s error report tally is steadily dropping on Downdetector. I can confirm that I am currently able to listen to “Pookie’s Requiem” on Spotify, rectifying a great tragedy.

Update, July 27, 6:10PM ET: This story was updated after publication to reflect that the outages have been resolved. They were still pretty annoying, though.
