Spider-Man: Brand New Day Reaches $2 Billion

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially crossed $2 billion at the global box office, marking the first time Marvel’s wall-crawling hero has ever reached the theatrical landmark.

The new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) flick passed the milestone after premiering in theaters July 31, 2026, a little more than three weeks ago. It’s a spectacular achievement, with the box office split breaking down to an estimated $785 million domestically and $1.23 billion internationally.

Star Tom Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton’s Brand New Day now stands at a whopping $2.022 billion (via Variety). Reaching the big $2b makes it the eighth film to do so, but despite some tremendous past successes under his belt, it’s a first for Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: No Way Home came close to reaching the number upon its premiere in 2021, with its total climbing to $1.9 billion before leaving theaters (via Box Office Mojo). The race wasn’t nearly as tight before then, with Holland’s second standalone outing as Peter Parker, Far From Home, reaching $1.13 billion, while the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies failed to cross the $1 billion mark throughout any individual releases in their respective series.

Brand New Day still finds itself in familiar company. The MCU still has two other installments – Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame – in the $2 billion club. Other qualifiers in the category include James Cameron’s Avatar and its sequel, Star Wars: Episode 7 – The Force Awakens, and Ne Zha 2.

While Marvel and Brand New Day’s accomplishment is no doubt notable, it’s anything but a surprise. The film broke records in its opening weekend and only took a few days to earn its first billion dollars. The path to $2 billion was paved early thanks to strong reception from fans and critics, with its big reveals mostly left out of trailers as Cretton and company relied on a more practical approach to Spider-Man, audiences had a lot to show up for.

Where Holland’s new movie will finish is anyone’s guess, but it’s got a long way to go if it wants to climb to the top of the box office leaderboard. However, it is still the second-fastest project to reach $2 billion, with the crown going to Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swung into theaters a little more than three weeks ago and is expected to remain on the big screen for a while longer. IGN gave it a 7/10 review, saying it “effectively refocuses on the most reliable pillars of the webslinger: battling inner turmoil, swinging around NYC saving the day, and looking cool while doing so.”
