TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index lost more than 100 points Tuesday, weighed down by broad-based losses, while U.S. markets were also negative.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 120.46 points at 35,582.07.

In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 328.09 points at 52,093.11. The S&P 500 index was down 34.25 points at 7,585.73, while the Nasdaq composite was down 204.84 points at 25,981.57.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.85 cents US compared with 71.90 cents US on Monday.
The October crude oil contract was up US$4.44 at US$105.83 per barrel.
The December gold contract was down US$19.10 at US$4,332.80 an ounce.
