Sony say goodbye to PC and hello to AI in their annual business report, which must be a good thing, right?

Back in March, a report emerged claiming that Sony no longer had plans to release the likes of Ghost of Yōtei and other such singleplayer-only games on PC. Sony are yet to explicitly confirm that this is the case, but it certainly seems like that is the case based on their annual business environment and strategy report for PlayStation. Oh, but it does mention how they plan to use AI, so. Yay.

In the report, Sony explain that they’re planning to make use of AI so that they can “unleash the creativity of studios and further enhance the PlayStation experience.” They explain further that “within the studio business, Sony aims to improve productivity through the use of AI powered tools, allowing development teams to reinvest their time into building richer worlds and gameplay experiences.”

Their use of AI extends to PlayStation users too, saying that they are “working to leverage AI to route transactions more efficiently, and to personalize and recommend content for individual users in the PlayStation Store.” And, of course, Sony say they aim to “push visual fidelity forward and deliver higher quality gameplay experiences through continued investments in AI and machine learning.”

The big thing related to PC here is technically its absence. As noted by Gamefile, back in 2025 that year’s report featured a line that says “Sony plans to continue its efforts to deploy its first-party titles to multiple platforms such as PC.” Not for long, it seems, as there’s no mention of PC releases in the 2026 report. This isn’t a surprise, given that Sony’s PC releases continuously launched with problems, with less and less people picking them up as time went on. Though, according to the report from earlier this year, part of the pivot away from PC was born out of a concern that the move was hurting PS5 sales, and could hurt successor consoles as well.

Mostly I’m just bummed about all that AI nonsense mentioned this year. It stinks! I’ll happily sacrifice playing Wolverine on PC if it means I don’t have to hear about that digital poison anymore. Might be nice for some folks if you still put it on PC though, Sony.
