‘Smokin’ Joe Frazier statue will move to base of Philadelphia Museum of Art steps

The statue of late heavyweight boxing champion “Smokin'” Joe Frazier is getting a new home.

The Philadelphia Art Commission approved a proposal to relocate it to the base of the art museum steps, where the Rocky statue currently stands.

In January, the commission voted to move the Rocky statue to the top of the museum steps.

Once the Frazier statue arrives, interpretive panels will be added to explain the boxer’s ties to the city.

The Frazier statue was first installed outside the Sports Complex in 2015.
