Sephora Taps John Legend for Original Holiday Anthem

Sephora Europe is ushering in the holidays with a little help from singer-songwriter John Legend.

The specialty beauty retailer has tapped Legend to compose an original song, called “Here It Is,” which details the joys of the holidays and gifting season at Sephora.

The collaboration comes as Legend, who in 2018 rose to EGOT winner status, gears up to release his next studio album, “Muse,” which will release on Oct. 23 and was produced by Legend’s friend and longtime collaborator, Pharrell Williams.

“This exclusive collaboration with John Legend is a powerful illustration of Sephora’s ambition in Europe and of our ability to create unique brand moments,” said Catherine Spindler, Sephora Europe and Middle East president.

Added Elodie Barbé, vice president of marketing, Europe: “By partnering with an artist of John Legend’s caliber to create an original song exclusively for Sephora for this festive season, we are bringing to life a celebration-driven activation that reflects both the strength of our brand and our commitment to engaging clients in meaningful and innovative ways across Europe.”

The holiday season is a boon for beauty sales — NielsenIQ reported in 2025 that nearly a quarter of annual beauty sales the year prior occurred in November and December — and Sephora is no newbie to activating around the period.

Last year, the retailer tapped Grammy winner and “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer Mariah Carey for a campaign that riffed off her annual “It’s Time” tradition in which she takes to the internet on Nov. 1 each year to declare the commencement of the holiday season.

Legend and his music, too, are often associated with the holidays, with the singer even releasing a holiday album in 2018 called “A Legendary Christmas” which features a mix of original compositions and covers of iconic holiday songs including “Baby It’s Cold Outside.”

For Sephora, this collaboration comes on the heels of several culturally in-tune marketing moves, including a debut as the official beauty partner of “Dancing With the Stars” and as the first beauty retail partner of the U.S. Open this year.
