Sega Confirms Persona 6 Physical Release for Switch 2

Persona 6 won’t be a PS5-exclusive physical release after all

The September Nintendo Direct featured an array of announcements and brand-new trailers for upcoming titles. Among them was the release of Persona 6 on the Nintendo Switch 2. Sega then shared this reveal on its official website, along with platform information, which confirmed a physical Switch 2 release.

Sega’s Persona 6 announcement page previously noted that the physical edition of the game would be exclusive to the PlayStation 5. This is no longer the case, so the information has since been removed. At the moment, it does not mention physical releases at all. However, the Switch 2’s release page states that physical copies will be available for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.

While this does not shed any light on a possible physical release for Xbox, it is at least a relief for Switch 2 players to know that they will have access to one, and PlayStation 5 will not be the only console to get a physical release of the game. This would be particularly ironic, as Sony is all-in when it comes to a digital future. Nintendo is still making considerable profits from physical games, and Xbox is giving players ways to make the most of theirs with the disc-to-digital games.

So far, it is still unknown if a physical edition of Persona 6 on Xbox will be available. This information is exclusive to Sega’s Japanese website. Xbox isn’t as popular in Japan, so it would make sense to skip a physical edition for the Series X. Therefore, there is still a chance that gamers in other countries could eventually hold a physical copy of Persona 6 in their hands at some point.
