Ryan Gosling Developing ‘Flintstones’ Spin-Off Movie

Ryan Gosling is producing a ‘Flintstones’ spin-off movie.
It would focus on the grown son of Barney Rubble, Bamm-Bamm.
Warner Bros. is backing the development.

He may not see eye-to-eye (or payment level to payment level with Warner Bros. over a ‘Barbie’ sequel, but Ryan Gosling still seems willing to work with the studio.

Deadline reports that Gosling and his Open Invite production company partner Jessie Henderson are in early development on a movie that would follow the grown-up version of ‘The Flintstones’ character Bamm-Bamm (more on that concept below).

Air Date: September 30th, 1960

Will this turn into a star vehicle for Gosling? That’s unknown for now, as he’s still only involved as a producer, with the team looking for a writer. But you never know –– he does like a fun character to play…

What’s Bamm-Bamm’s story?

Bamm-Bamm Rubble was introduced as the young son of Barney and Betty Rubble, the friends and neighbors of Fred and Wilma Flintstone in the early 1960s Hanna-Barbera animated series that spawned multiple spin-offs, including two live-action movie outings, 1994’s ‘The Flintstones’ and 2000’s prequel ‘The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.’

Originally, Bamm-Bamm went from child with a banging club to grownup in the 1971-1972 CBS Saturday morning series ‘The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show,’ in which he was a teenager, dating Pebbles Flintstone, attending Bedrock High School and landing his first job.

What else is Ryan Gosling working on?

Gosling and Henderson are producers on the upcoming romantic drama ‘Love of Your Life’ from ‘The Fire Inside’ director Rachel Morrison, starring Margaret Qualley (‘The Dog Stars’) and Aaron Pierre (‘Lanterns’), which premieres next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.

As an actor, Gosling has recently wrapped work on ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ and will reunite with that movie’s director, Shawn Levy for the recently-confirmed ‘Ghost Rider’ at Disney and Marvel.

‘Starfighter’ will fly into theaters on May 28, 2027.
