Team Vitality has responded after its Paris HQ was attacked, vandalized, and looted during a day of demonstrations in France.
Major nationwide demonstrations have been taking place across France, protesting issues such as the rising cost of living, the government’s spending cuts, and poor public services. Many businesses and offices have been ransacked as a result.
Among those affected is Team Vitality, the French professional esports organization whose headquarters, V.Hive, is based in the nation’s capital.
Team Vitality and Neo respond
A slew of videos from the riots have been shared on X. These include evidence of the office’s front windows being smashed, and stolen PCs being stripped for parts.
The team’s silverware, such as their StarLadder StarSeries 2026 trophy, was also stolen. The trophy was won last month when Vitality’s CS2 team defeated Aurora Gaming 3–1 in Barcelona.
The esports team responded to the news shortly afterward. Taking to X, its statement read: “Today, the premises of our club were looted on the sidelines of the mobilization on October 17. Fortunately, none of our staff members nor any fans were injured.”
“On the other hand, our display windows were destroyed, and our trophies and computer equipment were stolen,” they wrote. “Pending an assessment of the full extent of the damage, V.Hive will remain closed. More information will be communicated later. Take care of yourselves.”
TeamVitality / XThe team’s co-founder and CEO, Neo, also responded on his own X account. He said: “V.Hive was born from the dream of a child who grew up discovering and loving esports in cybercafés at a time when the Internet was still too expensive to have at home.”
“Since its opening, gaming sessions have been €3.50 per hour. This is no coincidence. We have always wanted teenagers and people with modest incomes to be able to come play, reconnect, and share their passion at a low cost. Despite inflation, we have never raised our rates.”
Neo closed by stating that, although he believes in the right to demonstrate for one’s convictions, “looting and destruction should never have a place in these fights.”
