Qatar Airways‘ Qsuite has been considered the world’s best business class since its launch. The product won the Skytrax World’s Best Business Class Airlines 2025 award in 2025, along with the subcategory for the best business-class suite. Qatar Airways has now announced Qsuite Next Gen for its incoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft. This new class has been required, as a brand-new first class product was needed to sit above Qsuite for its Boeing 777X planes.
Qsuite Next Gen carries on the same revolutionary ideas brought about by Qsuite. Yet, it comes with a host of upgrades and new features. The suites are significantly larger and have improved technology and privacy.
How Qsuite Changed Business Class
Qsuite is the product name for Qatar Airways’ flagship business class seat. The philosophy was to bring elements most commonly seen in first class into the business class environment. Each suite has an enormous amount of privacy, becoming mini rooms with high dividers and plenty of space for personal belongings. In Qatar Airways’ previous business class, passengers sat directly next to each other with no privacy.

Qsuite is available on Qatar Airways’ Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 fleets. The seats are in a 1-2-1 configuration. That is now the standard layout for premium carriers’ business class products, but Qsuite is unique as it offers both forward and rear-facing seats. Private single suites are installed along the windows. Meanwhile, the center sections have customizable partitions, meaning the suites can become twin, double, or quad. That opens up new possibilities for couples, families, and business groups.
Qatar Airways’ business class isn’t just about the hard product. It also has leading service and gourmet dining. Dine-on-demand is available, so passengers aren’t restricted to set meal times. The meals are served course by course. Exact dishes available will depend on where and when you are traveling. One example of a main available is braised beef short ribs with fondant potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and asparagus.
The Advancements Coming With Qsuite Next Gen
Qsuite brought first class elements to business class. Simply launching a new first class product wouldn’t give these passengers a significant improvement from Qsuite to justify the increased ticket cost. The answer is Qsuite Next Gen, which has been designed with improvements on the original Qsuite in mind. It begins with the same product philosophy, giving passengers a private suite with a door. The level of privacy is enhanced with higher and digitally controlled dividers. Passengers can opt for supreme privacy or a less claustrophobic experience. These dividers and other elements can be customized from the touchscreen.
The product also redesigns Qsuite’s multi-person options. It features a new Companion Suite, bringing the couples’ suite idea onto the aircraft’s window seats. It allows paired travelers to dine facing each other. ‘The Quad’ has also been reimagined with a movable 4K OLED Panasonic Astrova screen. This can slide aside to create a uniquely open space for work and socializing.
The table below shows the configurations available, where you can find them, and the travelers who are targeted by each:
Configuration | Location | Target Traveler |
|---|---|---|
Companion Suite | Window Seats | Couples & Pairs |
Quad Suite 2.0 | Center Seats | Families & Teams |
Solo Suite | All Locations | Individual Business |
Another improvement will be the pairing of suites with rapid Starlink Wi-Fi. This availability will be ideal for business travelers, who will have the connectivity they need to work as if they were still on the ground. Passengers will also be able to use their touchscreen to request turndown service. The idea is to bring boutique hotel experiences into the skies.

Here’s How Much A Business Class Ticket On Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777-300ER Actually Costs In 2026
Onboard the 777-300ER, you’ll have four booking options, each with a stellar offering.
Passengers Get More Space Onboard With Qsuite Next Gen
Despite the host of strengths it offers to passengers, Qsuite has been slightly let down by its inability to lead the market in terms of seat dimensions. Although higher than the market average, it loses out in width to the world’s best business class products. All Nippon Airways dominates with its seat width of 38 inches (96 cm), with Singapore Airlines following behind at 30 inches (76.2 cm).
Qsuite’s relatively small seat dimensions are addressed with Qsuite Next Gen. In upright configuration, the width has grown to 23 inches (58.4 cm), 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) higher than Qsuite. There is also an additional four inches (10.2 cm) of width at the hip and shoulder level when in lie-flat mode. That prevents even smaller passengers from having to worry about the coffin-like sensation that is sometimes the case for cramped business class suites.
The pitch is also enormous and akin to what passengers expect from a leading first-class product. It is 100 inches (254 cm), clearly longer than anybody who will be sleeping in Qsuite Next Gen. Yet, the extra pitch demonstrates the enormous amount of space available in the suite, used for generous storage space. The room also ensures you’ll be able to enjoy eating, sleeping, working, and relaxing in your suite without things feeling cluttered.
What Qatar Airways Is Saying About QSuite Next Gen
These upgrades on the original Qsuite were originally announced at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. Also announced were the world’s first AI digital human cabin crew, its latest generation of Boeing 787-9 and Qatar Executive’s Gulfstream G700. Present at the announcement were His Excellency Jassim bin Saif bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti, the Qatari Minister of Transport, and Mr. Mohammed Falah Al Hajri, Acting President of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.
Al-Meer said, “Qatar Airways has once again raised the bar for its award-winning product, the Qsuite. We look forward to welcoming media and partners to our stand throughout the week to experience the future of business class travel with the World’s Best Business Class onboard the World’s Best Airline.”
It wasn’t all smooth sailing with this Farnborough Airshow announcement. Qatar Airways rather optimistically claimed the product would be rolled out by 2025. Yet, as the plan was to have the product available on the airline’s 777X, this remains delayed.
777X Delays Have Forced A Change In Qsuite Next Gen Plans
Qatar Airways intended to launch Qsuite Next Gen on its Boeing 777X aircraft in 2025. It has made significant commitments to this aircraft, including its inclusion in a $96 billion deal for 787s and 777Xs made last year following U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to Qatar. The deal included 30 777Xs.
Al-Meer said, “After two consecutive years of record-breaking commercial performance and with this historic Boeing aircraft order we’re not simply chasing scale, we’re building strength that will allow us to continue to deliver our unmatched products and customer experiences.”
However, the 777X is now delayed until at least 2027. The next best option will likely be to transfer the launch to the Airbus A350-1000. The change could allow Qsuite Next Gen to be launched this year. This jet is the ideal laboratory to test Qsuite Next Gen as it shares many of the advancements featured in the 777X, such as cabin pressurization to the equivalent of a far lower altitude above sea level. Meanwhile, the aircraft’s lower capacity than the 777X puts less pressure on Qatar to immediately find a large amount of demand.
How To Fly On Qsuite
Regardless of whether Qsuite Next Gen is rolled out soon on A350-1000s, customers will need to wait some time before they can experience the product. In the meantime, Qsuite remains available across plenty of Qatar Airways’ services. The best way to check is to make use of the business class seat map for the journey. If the seats are in a staggered configuration, that indicates Qsuites will be available. However, remember that last-minute aircraft swaps can occur, so you won’t be 100% guaranteed a seat in Qsuite. Qatar Airways has introduced a Qsuite guarantee for these circumstances, allowing you to rebook onto another flight of the same route within 21 days of your original departure date.
The aircraft you are flying on is also an indication of whether Qsuite will be available. All of the carrier’s A350-1000s have Qsuite. The same applies to most Boeing 777-200LR (five out of seven aircraft), although there appear to be no plans to reconfigure the 777-200LRs without Qsuite. Most 777-300ERs also have Qsuite, although around 14% of these aircraft retain the old 2-2-2-configured business class. A smaller number of Airbus A350-900s (11 out of 34) have Qsuites. Finally, you won’t be able to access Qsuites on any of the airline’s Boeing 787s, A380s, and A330s.
Sadly, it seems that Qatar Airways has all but stopped reconfiguring its aircraft to include Qsuites. Given that the product is now almost a decade old and Qsuite Next Gen should come within the next couple of years, it makes sense that this isn’t one of Qatar Airways’ priorities.
