Qantas Cancels All Flights To 5 Destinations: See Full List Now

Qantas has 700 daily movements this month, which means that the oneworld member has 37% of the Australian market. When low-cost carrier Jetstar is included, the pair’s dominance rises to 53%. Jetstar is a wholly owned unit of the Qantas Group.

OAG data shows that they are particularly strong domestically (59%), with their share being 35 points more than for the second-placed Virgin Australia. While Qantas and Jetstar are the nation’s top two carriers for international activity, the high number of operators necessarily means their share is much lower (34%). It is lower still for long-haul (22%).

Qantas Has Stopped Flying To These Five Cities

This article will now focus exclusively on the Australian flag carrier, whose total network has been explored. Airports served in 2025 through October 2026 have been compared to what’s scheduled from November 2026 until September 2027. This process identified that Qantas’ airframes are no longer seen in the following five places. It is common to see how an airline’s map has changed.

Qantas’ eliminated destinations include Lord Howe Island, which is located approximately 425 nautical miles (787 km) from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD). Lord Howe Island has had various QantasLink routes over the years, such as Brisbane until 2020, Coffs Harbour until 2005 and Port Macquarie until 2017.

Obviously, it was nearly fully about SYD, which was last served by the now-defunct Eastern Australia Airlines for QantasLink on the Dash 8-200 (now retired) until May 2025. SkyTrans operated from April 2025 until November 2025 with the QF IATA code, after which SkyTrans’ own QN code was used. However, Qantas codeshares with SkyTrans on the route, with passengers able to access Qantas’ SYD network.

The market between South Korea and Australia is large. In the 12 months to July 2026, booking data shows that more than 1.3 million round-trip passengers traveled. Unsurprisingly, Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (ICN) to SYD was by far the most-trafficked market (730,000 passengers). This includes those who flew nonstop and connected on the way.

After not operating to the Northeast Asian nation between 2009 and 2021, Qantas returned to ICN four years ago in 2022. The airline flew on a sub-daily basis from SYD to ICN between December 2022 and May 2025, on the Airbus A330-200 (shown above) but primarily on the A330-300.

Jetstar inaugurated SYD-ICN service in November 2022, which was a month before Qantas’ return. It also flew sub-daily. The rationale was that they would be targeting different parts of the huge overall market and would jointly capture more of the pie. However, perhaps unsurprisingly, it was decided that only Jetstar would operate, freeing up Qantas aircraft to fly to higher-yielding places. A month after Qantas’ exit, Jetstar’s frequency consequently jumped to daily offering to compensate for the capacity shortfall.

Up to four daily flights are scheduled this month. They are provided by Asiana (six weekly A380), Jetstar (daily 787-8), Korean Air (eight weekly 787-10), and Trinty Airways (previously called T’Way; daily A330-300). It is SYD’s sixth most-served Asian destination for flights, after Singapore, Bali, Hong Kong, Tokyo Haneda, and Kuala Lumpur.

Two New Destinations Are Coming

Articles that explore airports removed from an airline’s network usually focus exclusively on that. They do not tend to mention places that have been added. From November 2026 onward, Qantas currently plans two new markets: Las Vegas and Western Sydney International.

On December 29, Qantas will take off from SYD to Nevada. Covering 6,708 nautical miles (12,423 km) on a great circle basis, the new route will operate three times a week on the 236-seat Boeing 787-9. Meanwhile, the first service to Western Sydney International will be on March 28, 2027, from both Brisbane (four weekly Alliance E190) and Melbourne (four weekly Alliance E190).
