Pokémon TCG Pitch Black ETBs Restocked Under Market Price — Best Deal at Amazon vs. TCGplayer

Pokémon TCG’s latest Mega Evolution expansion, Pitch Black, has been out for more than a few weeks now, and things are likely a lot better for those of us unwilling to pay an arm and a leg for shiny cardboard.

You can currently pick up the Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box for $79.94, which is fairly close to its market price according to TCGplayer. For those picking up their first ETB of the latest expansion, here’s what’s included for just under $80.

Elite Trainer Box is wonderfully affordable right now, at least in my view. While it’s not quite dropped to lows of standard MSRP, they are getting might close indeed.

It’s also slightly above the best deal we’ve seen recently, where the ETB dropped to just $70. But, if you missed out on that deal, $10 more isn’t all that bad and still one of the best options for securing the goods in a difficult market.

Yet, no matter how unfortunate it is how hard it is to find Pokemon TCG at MSRP, market value is often the price you have to pay now, even from big retailers like Amazon. But is it worth it? Only you can be the judge of that.

The market price is often dictated by what the majority of people are willing to pay, but only you can decide if this if truely worth your money. I also want to emphasize that this is “sold and shipped” directly from Amazon itself, and not via any third-party sellers.

If you do decide to order today, it might be best to pick up two or three just in case this sells out or prices start to climb again soon.

What is Pokémon TCG Pitch Black?

Pokemon TCG’s latest Mega Evolution expansion is Pitch Black. At over 115 cards, Pitch Black is a much leaner, more manageable expansion compared to the Coalossal 295-card checklist of Ascended Heroes.

It’s already looking like the dark, brooding sibling to the bright Ascended Heroes cards we’ve been chasing all summer. Here’s what you’ll be chasing when cracking open your packs:

For those chasing the most valuable cards from the Pitch Black, I’ll leave a handy round-up of what you should be looking out for just here.

Mega Darkrai ex’s Special Illustration Rare (116/084) is the one to look out for right now, and sells for $282.82 online right now, while its shiny gold Mega Hyper Rare equivilent (120/084) is also a fairly valuable pull, selling for around $196.51 at TCGplayer.

Not everyone is a fan of these Mega Hyper Rare gold cards, but no matter your opinion on the aesthetic, if you pull this golden nightmare, congratulations! That’s still a mighty fine pull, and worth a pretty penny (even if it’s not at the $1000 heights we saw in release week).

Not only is today Magic: The Gathering’s official launch day for the latest Universe Beyond set, The Hobbit (with discounts already live for booster boxes at Amazon), but it’s also part of Best Buy’s latest massive “Deal of the Day” sale.

For 24 hours only, on August 14, fans can save up to 50% on a whole slew of Magic: The Gathering sets, with some absolutely outstanding offers on even the most recent releases.

For those looking for deals outside of Best Buy, I already mentioned that the new Hobbit set’s Play Booster display is down to $189.99 at Amazon, $20 off its list price for launch day.

There’s also more deals for the other recently released Universes Beyond set, Marvel Super Heroes, with the Commander Deck bundle now down to just $184.99, a staggering $115 discount on the original price. That works out at $46.25 for all four decks, which retail for $75 each.

Finally, there’s also the Marvel Super Heroes Bundle, which released a bit later than the rest of the set, in July, and includes nine Play Boosters, 30 Lands, a Foil Alt-Art Promo Card and loads of exclusive accessories for $59.98, down from $69.99.
