New England Patriots safety Kevin Byard has gotten a lot out of lining up against his teammates on the offense this summer.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Mike Kadlick, Byard lauded Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and the rest of his teammates on offense at the team’s second training camp practice of the offseason on Sunday.

“Drake [Maye] is one of the best quarterbacks in this league,” Byard said. “…It’s been fun going against these guys.”

Byard has gotten the chance to compete against Maye through the early parts of training camp thus far, building off of the work that they put in during the team’s offseason program last spring.

New England’s offense also features new wide receivers A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, two star downfield threats in the NFL, as well as star tight end Hunter Henry, wide receiver Kayshon Boutte and wideout Mack Hollins.

The Patriots’ star receiving corps, as well as the rest of the team’s offensive lineup, will go into next season with Super Bowl aspirations that Byard and the defense will be expected to help further in 2026.
