Palworld has sold over 30m copies already, with Steam unsurprisingly emerging as the most popular platform

Palworld’s 1.0 release has been massive so far, with the game hitting its biggest concurrent player peaks since the 2024 early access launch for the past two weeks. Unsurprisingly, that has also translated into a boost to premium unit sales.

Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliott has shared an in-depth look at Palworld’s post-launch performance and recapped the massive hit’s journey so far. Estimated sales now sit at roughly 30.5m units as of 21st July, 2026, with around $700m in gross revenue coming from copies sold alone. Players also got access to Palworld starting in 2024 via Xbox and PC Game Pass, adding around 10m users to the total of people that have played the game.

It must also be noted that, upon hitting 1.0, Pocketpair deployed a 30 percent-off discount on Steam that ends this week. This helped it sell “nearly 1.5m additional copies” since the launch date, with $25m in gross revenue added to the tally. It also helps explain why 64.9 percent of Palworld players have chosen its Steam version over Xbox and PlayStation; each have 31.1 and 4 percent of the player base respectively.

Elliott also underlined the United States and China are representing the two largest markets for Palworld, at least on Steam, “holding an equal share of roughly 27 percent each” as per their estimates. Based on the new concurrent player peaks, lapsed players who’d been around for the early access period before dipping out also made a return in force, but specific data on those isn’t available.

On top of this update on how well the game is doing after the 1.0 update, two other interesting bits have surfaced. First, Bucky – head of publishing and comms at Pocketpair – has potentially teased skins for the new Pals. Second, Palworld is included in the latest Fortnite in-game survey that asks players about their gaming preferences. Could a collaboration realistically happen with so many legal issues still untangled?

Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell wasn’t convinced by Palworld at launch over two years ago, and said it was “a product designed to be sold, rather than to be played”, but it’s safe to say it’s found an enviable audience regardless. Pocketpair has also gone on to admit the game has faced many issues despite its larger success, such as the ongoing legal battles with Nintendo. Still, it seems the IP is here to stay.
