One person dead after fire at Kennedy Street apartment building – Winnipeg


One person is dead after a fire at a high-rise apartment building on Kennedy Street Monday.

The blaze broke out just after 1:30 p.m. at a building in the 400 block of Kennedy. Crews were able to get the fire under control in about 45 minutes. They also located a person dead inside a suite.

Residents of the building were evacuated, but most have been able to return home. Some suites were damaged from the fire, water and smoke.
