Oil Prices Test Thailand Fiscal Limits, Forcing End to Price Cap


Diesel is a lifeline in oil-importer Thailand, powering transport, farming and industry. Keeping prices low has long been a political priority, especially for rural voters. But the cost of doing so has risen sharply this month. The Oil Fuel Fund was burning through billions of baht each week, forcing the government to step back.
