November is going to be one of the most significant periods in gaming history with the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. It’s projected to be one of, if not the biggest entertainment launches of all time, beating out every game, book, or movie that’s ever been released. Wowie-zowie.
So naturally, many folks continue to question whether Rockstar’s latest title will be coming to the Switch 2. After all, Nintendo’s new console has proven itself more than capable of handling some of the most graphically-intensive games out there, so the possibility of a port in the future isn’t entirely out of the question.
Unfortunately, in a new interview with Variety, Nintendo of America’s president Devon Pritchard gave absolutely nothing away when asked about GTA 6 coming to the Switch 2:
“That’s going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.”
Cool, cool. But hey, it’s not a straight-up denial, so we’ll take it for now.
Judging from the screenshots and footage we’ve seen from GTA 6 so far, it looks like it will probably need quite a bit of tinkering to run adequately on Nintendo’s hardware. Hell, we don’t even have Red Dead Redemption 2 yet, though its predecessor did get a native release at the end of 2025 with enhanced visuals and performance.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed, but we think it’s probably best to presume that GTA 6 probably won’t come to the Switch 2 – at least for the time being. Developers are already performing miracles with the system, and with technologies like DLSS and frame generation gaining traction, who knows what the next few years could bring?
