Remaster developer Nightdive Studios has always been open about its desire to tackle Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, and a new comment from its studio head has raised hopes that it might become a reality.
As covered by IGN, Stephen Kick responded to a question on social media in which a user asked if we’d ever see Eternal Darkness again, joking that Nightdive Studios was “our only hope”.
Kick responded to say the following:
“Eternal Darkness is one of my all-time favorites and it deserves the treatment I know @NightdiveStudio is capable of. Keep your eye on our Deep Dives…”
Kick also provided a direct link to Nightdive’s YouTube channel, and his response is being viewed as a tease for an upcoming announcement.
Before you get too excited, however, Kick has previously stated that the studio has had little luck with Nintendo, with previous discussions leading nowhere. These comments came more than four years ago, mind you, and a lot can happen in that time…
It does seem odd that Kick would provide any sort of tease in response to a question about Eternal Darkness. Is it possible that a remaster is actually on the cards? We’ll have to wait and see, but man, we’d absolutely love to see it happen.
