Nigeria Holds Key Rate as Iran War Drives Fuel Prices Higher


Uncertainty over the duration of the Iran conflict may lead the central bank to keep rates steady for the foreseeable future, said Brendon Verster, senior economist at Oxford Economics Africa, ahead of the rate decision. While the bank has cut rates by 100 basis points since September, official borrowing costs have held above 20% since the start of 2024.
