New video from Elden Ring movie set seemingly confirms the presence of early game foes and a familiar castle

Production on Alex Garland’s Elden Ring movie – which is, at least partially, a prequel to FromSoftware’s RPG – is progressing well. Even Dung Eater is seemingly in, so fans are expecting a rather faithful adaptation. Now, the latest set video suggests some low-level enemies will show up too.

A new video from user mightbeliber on TikTok has popped up; it was taken right outside the real set Conwy Castle (North Wales) has been turned into. As you can see, a few familiar human soldiers – probably before the Shattering occurs – are atop the walls and towers, guarding the location and patrolling. Back in April, North Wales Pioneer teased Alex Garland’s feature would shoot there.

While we don’t have any more details on who’s part of the current shoot at Conwy Castle or how long the crew is staying for, the presence of such characters and the nature of the location may confirm we’ll be seeing Stormveil Castle in the movie. If Garland’s take on Elden Ring is indeed focusing on the time before the cataclysm which transforms the Lands Between, there are lore reasons we’d be heading to the domain of Godrick the Grafted (assumedly before he got that moniker, though). This is just speculation for now, but worth keeping in mind.

Regardless of the actual nature of the place in the movie, it’s likely the location will be expanded in post-production with extensive CG backgrounds and other visual effects. Elden Ring’s use of real buildings and famous sites has been extensive so far, but its substantial budget suggests lots of work will be done in post-production.

For now, we know for sure Elden Ring’s cast is stacked, with names like Cailee Spaeny, Nick Offerman, Kit Connor, and Ben Whishaw leading the ensemble. The movie is set to spawn in United States cinemas in IMAX on 3rd March, 2028, so it’ll be a long wait before the marketing campaign kicks off, likely at some point in 2027.

Meanwhile, we’re also waiting for release date updates on Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods, both of which will mark FromSoftware’s first foray into Nintendo Switch 2. At the time of writing, we know they’re still slated for 2026.
