One of the frustrations with the hotel credits that come with some premium credit cards is that the savings don’t always feel truly dollar-for-dollar, since the credit card issuer’s travel portal may not show the lowest available hotel rates.
In other words, even if you’re using a valuable hotel credit from one of your credit cards, if you’re paying a higher nightly rate through the booking portal, it can make the savings feel less meaningful.
But there may now be good news for cardholders with the Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (see rates and fees) and Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees), as we recently spotted a price match feature in some Chase Travel℠ accounts.
This could allow cardholders to use Chase Travel perks and statement credits without worrying whether they’re overpaying for the hotel itself just to use the card’s perks and credit.

How does the price match guarantee work?
If you have Price Match on your Chase account and you book a prepaid hotel stay through Chase Travel and then find a lower price (greater than a $5 difference) elsewhere within 24 hours of the booking, you can submit a price match claim within that 24-hour window.

The following details must be the same:
- Property
- Dates
- Room type
- Bed type
- Number of guests
- Currency
- Same cancellation and refund rules

Price Match is not currently available on all Chase Sapphire Reserve accounts, so we reached out to Chase for additional details and learned:

“Chase Travel recently introduced Price Match Guarantee, currently in beta to Sapphire Reserve for Business, J.P. Morgan Reserve® and select Sapphire Reserve cardmembers. Cardmembers included in this pilot who find a lower rate for a prepaid hotel booked through Chase Travel, and meet the criteria, can submit a claim within 24 hours and receive a refund for the price difference.”
Testing Chase Travel’s new price match guarantee
To test the feature ourselves, TPG’s Editor-in-Chief, Nick Ewen, had the Price Match option appear on his Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business account and found a rate $50 lower directly with Hyatt for a two-night stay at the Park Hyatt Chicago.

Since the Park Hyatt Chicago is a member of The Edit by Chase Travel, he can apply one of his two annual statement credits of up to $250 toward a qualifying stay of two nights or more.
Within hours of submitting the Chase Price Match claim, he received an email confirming the claim had been approved.

This was followed by a pending $50 credit on his card account the next day, equal to the successful claim amount.

That means he locked in the lower rate while still using his statement credit.
He’ll also receive the usual perks that come with The Edit bookings, including daily breakfast for two, a $100 property credit and more.
Bottom line
A price-matching feature may seem minor, but it could be a valuable addition for Chase Travel users.
If rolled out more broadly, it would help cardholders feel more confident that they’re getting access to the best hotel pricing while still maximizing the value of their Chase Travel perks and statement credits.
