Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin had a solid rookie season where he showed his ability to shoot the NBA three-pointer at an efficient clip before plantar fasciitis ended his season prematurely. Brooklyn was hoping that Demin would be able to improve his game from what he showed during his first season in the league and he not only met the task, but exceeded it.

The Nets posted highlights of Demin’s best plays during Brooklyn’s summer circuit when they played in the California Classic and the Las Vegas Summer League. In two games played during the Classic, Demin averaged 23.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 55.6% from the field and 26.7% from behind the three-point line in 25.1 minutes played per contest.

Once the Classic tipped off in Sacramento, Demin showed that his time in the weight room helped his game in different ways as he was able to impose his will physically on both ends of the floor. More to the point, Demin’s added strength gave him more confidence to attack the rim and one indicator of that is the fact that he jumped from 0.7 free-throw attempts per game last summer to 4.5 free-throw attempts this summer.

While Demin did not score as much in Las Vegas, he showed his versatility as an on-ball creator and scorer and an off-ball play-finisher while sharing the floor with rookie guard Mikel Brown Jr. In the Las Vegas Summer League, Demin averaged 21.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per contest while shooting 42.6% from the floor and 30.0% from deep.

While Demin’s three-point shooting left something to be desired given how he shoot the long-ball during his rookie season, but his sophomore season will give him more of a chance to round out his game around starting-caliber players. Demin’s performance this summer should give Nets fans more of a reason to be excited for next season and with that being said, here are his highlights from summer league play:
