Back when he was unveiling his big initial plan for the rebooted DC Universe, co-chief James Gunn made mention of actors playing roles in both animated and live-action shows. We’ve seen the likes of Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.) and Sean Gunn (Weasel and Maxwell Lord) crossing between mediums.

Add one more to the list as Nathan Fillion is scheduled to make his third appearance (after ‘Superman’ and his announced role on ‘Lanterns’) in the DC animated series ‘Mister Miracle.’

Entertainment Weekly brings the news that the show –– run by ‘Lanterns’ co-writer Tom King –– will indeed be (dis)graced by Fillion’s cocky, smug Green Lantern Corps member Guy Gardner.

What’s the story of ‘Mister Miracle’?

Scott Free is the world’s greatest escape artist, known to the world as Mister Miracle, whose perfect life with his warrior wife Big Barda falls apart when their two home worlds — Apocalypse and New Genesis — go to war and Scott’s cruel adoptive father Darkseid appears to have captured the ultimate weapon, the Anti-Life Equation, that will give him total dominance over the universe.

We don’t yet have other cast information, but we expect to learn more details soon.

“We brought Nathan into ‘Mister Miracle’s show, and doing that, it’s just so wonderful. He brings that energy to every aspect of it. And you would think it would be different tonally from ‘Lanterns,’ but it blends because that’s who Guy is. He’s that guy who is over the top. We all know that guy who’s a little bit like that.”
