Myanmar Holds Final Phase of Election Dominated By Junta Allies


“The elections are unlikely to ease Myanmar’s isolation, with Western sanctions expected to remain firmly in place,” said Kaho Yu, principal Asia analyst at risk intelligence company Verisk Maplecroft. “The junta will continue to prioritize control over revenue-generating energy assets to stabilize fiscal flows, reinforcing the country’s reliance on partners such as China and Russia.”
