You can understand why MSGM’s Massimo Giorgetti digs the late Italian pop artist Mario Schifano, who never met a vibrant color he didn’t like, and whose paintings transmit energy galore.

Backstage, the designer said he’s been dreaming of using Schifano’s archives for years, and was thrilled when a recent email to his foundation was answered, and he was able to feature Schifano’s star and palm tree motifs in his spring 2027 show.

“It’s kind of a teaser,” he said of the four pieces stalking the runway, as additional trousers, shirts, skirts and scarves are still being finished. The entire collection should land in stores during a major Schifano exhibition at Palazzo Reale in Milan, scheduled for Jan. 28 to June 12, 2027.

“Perfect timing,” Giorgetti enthused.

Also at Saturday’s show, the designer debuted a streamlined new MSGM logo by Studio Blanco — and a renewed commitment to the signature elements of his 17-year-old brand.

“Colors, textures, prints, tweed, stripes, sequins, raffia, brocade, Lycra — but more graphic, more clean, and more sharp,” he said.

Giorgetti opened the show with stripes interpreted via tie-dye techniques on jersey, knits and trousers, and then moved into cotton shirting with collars and cuffs in contrasting brights, and tuxedo pants with the same zingy color combos.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any brighter, out came fluffy pink polo shirts worn with tomato red jeans, and psychedelic florals in neon bright shades for pencil skirts, dresses and neckties.

The show was as fun as the collection, and climaxed with a shower of white confetti.
