Minister Joly to travel to the United Kingdom


July 8, 2024 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will visit London, United Kingdom, from July 7 to 8, 2024.

In London, Minister Joly will meet with the Right Honourable David Lammy, the newly appointed Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. They will exchange views on common priorities, including national and transatlantic security, ongoing support to Ukraine, as well as security challenges facing the Middle East. They will also discuss opportunities to deepen bilateral relations between Canada and the United Kingdom.

Minister Joly will also meet with Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland to discuss preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting taking place in Samoa later this year, and to underscore Canada’s commitment to the Commonwealth and to the region.
