Minister Anand speaks with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio


September 23, 2025 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke with Marco Rubio, United States Secretary of State, on Sunday.

During the call, Minister Anand and Secretary Rubio discussed the urgent need for the United Nations Security Council to adopt a resolution authorizing a strengthened security mission in Haiti backed by a UN Support Office to address gang violence and restore security.

They also discussed the Middle East, including the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the necessity of sidelining Hamas for building a peaceful future.
