Mets Reportedly Inform Teams That All But These Five Players Is Available For Trade

It has been a disappointing season for the New York Mets, and with the postseason looking like a long shot, they seem destined to sell at the trade deadline.

The real question for the Mets is not whether they sell, but rather who is available. According to SNY’s Chelsea Janes, all but five players are being made available.

“A rival executive said the Mets informed their team that the sale is on, and that everyone but young stars Carson Benge, A.J. Ewing, Christian Scott, Nolan McLean and the obvious, Juan Soto, is available,” Janes wrote on Thursday. “That doesn’t mean everyone will go. But it means the Mets will listen on just about everyone, which is in keeping with what people familiar with their thinking have signaled for weeks.”

Notably, Francisco Lindor was not on the reported list of players who are off-limits for the Mets. However, his contract and struggles this season may actually make him too hard to trade. It seems like the Mets are focused on building a young team around Juan Soto that can compete next year and for years to come.

Many teams could be calling, trying to get Freddy Peralta, Luke Weaver, Clay Holmes, A.J. Minter and Brooks Raley. The Mets could get a decent return out of any of those players, and none of them have control beyond 2027.
